While a long time successful advertising producer, at the helm of her own production company in the fast paced media industry, Susan Carlson was recruited by a major Chicago detective agency to perform a task involved in an ongoing investigation.
Her ability to “get the job done” parlayed this one time assignment into a full time position with the agency and she soon became a lead detective working in all areas of investigation. Needless to say, she hit the ground running.
After completing a three year agency apprenticeship, Susan successfully sat for the Illinois State Licensing exam to receive her Class A Private Detective License and in 2004 opened her own business, Carlson Investigations, Inc.
Susan believes that her bachelors degree in Theater and Communications from University of Miami in Coral Gables Florida has served her well in the field of detective work as often she is able to assume a persona to play a role in order to extract information on the sly.
Moreover, her years of experience in the area of research has placed Susan into a unique nitch in the arena of intelligence gathering. Her vast knowledge and ability to navigate the abyss of web based data systems has earned the respect of her peers, as a new breed of detective has emerged from the millennium into the superhighway of world wide networking and information detection.
Working with some of Chicago’s leading attorneys on numerous significant and detailed legal cases has enabled Susan to develop a substantial legal knowledge and solid grounding in criminal and civil law. Susan has earned memberships into the prestigious National Association of Legal Investigators, World Association of Detectives and the National Association of Professional Process Servers which enable her to network across the city or across the country, and to even reach across the world if necessary to put together a team of professionals to draw upon the expertise of other detectives who specialize in various areas of investigation vital to each individual case.
Further, after a year of training and successful completion of a detailed entrance exam, Susan Carlson received her certification in the Reid Technique of Interview and Interrogation and holds a membership in the Reid Institute, the undisputed world authority on truth detection. In fact, Susan is the only private investigator in Illinois to achieve this respected certification.
